Prof. Emerita Elizabeth Toth Delivers 14th Annual Grunig Lecture

Faculty, students, and alums attend annual Grunig Lecture.

Scores of faculty members, students, and alumni attended (virtually and in-person) the 14th Annual Grunig Lecture on April 27. Professor Emerita Elizabeth Toth delivered the annual lecture, discussing the topic "Gender and Race in the Practice of Public Relations: A New Feminist Model." In the lecture, Toth highlighted work and research completed by her and Linda Aldoory and published in their award-winning book, The Future of Feminism in Public Relations: A Socio-Ecological Model of Influences

Toth was joined for the lecture by an all-star panel of Maryland public relations alumni including Jewel Addy, an alum who is completing an apprenticeship with 100Devs as a Software Engineer and volunteering media and PR support with Black Foreigners in Ukraine (BFU); Linda Childers Hon, a Ph.D. alum who is currently a professor of Public Relations at the University of Florida; and Virginia Strong, an alum who currently works as a Global Communications Executive for Honeywell, a Fortune 100 Company. The panel was moderated by Professor Emeritus James Grunig, longtime professor of Communication at Maryland and namesake (along with Professor Emerita Larissa Grunig) of the Grunig Lecture. 

The event was emceed by Professor and Associate Dean Linda Aldoory.
