Seyeon Park Wins Fall 2025 ArtsAMP Graduate Student Research Grant
December 09, 2025
Congrats, Seyeon!
Grad Student Seyeon Park has won a Fall 2025 ArtsAMP Graduate Student Research Grant!
The grant will help support Park's research project for 2026 entitled, "The Ghost in the Machine: How Creative Mindset Shapes Perceptions of AI’s 'Mind' and Authenticity with AI Art."
The project description is as follows:
The rapid advancement of generative AI has reshaped the boundaries of human creativity, raising new questions about how audiences experience and evaluate non-human art. Drawing on mind perception theory, this project investigates how people attribute agency and experience to AI creators and how these attributions shape perceptions of authenticity and aesthetic appreciation. Individual differences may moderate these responses: those with fixed creative mindsets may see AI art as undermining human uniqueness, whereas growth-oriented individuals may respond more receptively. To test these dynamics, the project uses a series of AI-generated digital storybooks to examine audience reactions to non-human creators. The study aims to identify the psychological mechanisms shaping evaluations of AI-generated artworks, assess how creative mindset and emotional openness influence mind and authenticity attributions, and establish empirical foundations for understanding audience reception as a key antecedent to the persuasive potential of AI-generated narratives.
Congrats on being recognized for your excellent work, Seyeon!
