Dr. Leah Waks Wins Outstanding Academic Program Leadership Award

Congratulations to Dr. Waks!
Dr. Leah Waks, Principal Lecturer & Director of Undergraduate Studies, has won the Outstanding Academic Program Leadership Award for the Communication Program at Shady Grove.
The award recognizes outstanding program leaders who support student success, foster innovation, and enhance the professional development of students and faculty. The Outstanding Academic Program Leadership Award is part of the Kendall Service Awards, which recognize faculty, program leaders, and staff who have provided outstanding support to students, as well as staff who have demonstrated exemplary service to the USG community.
Michelle Marcellino, Director of UMD programs at Shady Grove, described Waks as "defined not just by her accomplishments, but by the countless lives she's impacted along the way. Her vision, commitment, and deep care for students have helped shape both the program and community." Waks has been with the University of Maryland since 1995 and has been part of Shade Grove since its beginning. She has cultivated a lasting legacy and we are proud she has been recognized for her hard work and dedication!
