Katie is a doctoral student on the Rhetoric and Political Culture track in the Department of Communication. She earned a B.A. in Communication and a B.A. in Hispanic Studies from Pepperdine University. At UMD, she is studying the intersection of rhetoric, gender, and environmentalism. She teaches classes in public speaking and deliberation. Prior to coming to UMD, Katie worked in technical writing, marketing, and conference planning. Outside of her work, Katie spends lots of time running, hiking, or biking the local trails.
