Our i-mail series will feature internships COMM students have had and what they've learned from their experiences. 

Kyle Poppert is a Creative Media Student Intern with Maryland Athletics. This is Kyle's second year with the program and the internship lasts the entire school year, covering Fall, Winter, and Spring collegiate sports. 

Kyle's COMM background has helped him with this internship because it gives him "hands-on experience producing, editing, and managing visual content—key aspects of modern communication. . . Communication is a key component when working on various projects while meeting strict deadlines." 

 As a Creative Media Student Intern, Kyle's role involves involves filming, editing, and producing videos that capture key moments and behind-the-scenes perspectives across various sports, including Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer, Women's Basketball, Women's Gymnastics, and Baseball. Kyle also collaborates with fellow interns and full-time staff. This Recap Video for Men's Soccer below was edited and filmed by Kyle and two other interns, who are also COMM majors!

Overall, Kyle states that he has "gained a lot of knowledge on working with professional-grade cameras, especially in collaborating on a team with other colleagues and full-time staff." Even though this is his second year in the internship, he still "learns something new every day from the other staff that have been in this field for 5-plus years."
