This accomplishment is well-deserved!
COMM Ph.D. Candidate Tania Nachrin has won a Spring 2026 ArtsAMP Graduate Student Research Grant! Her project is entitled, "Resilience in Times of Disruption: An Arts-Based Study of International Students’ Well-Being."
The project description: "International students at U.S. universities often navigate uncertainty shaped by visa policy changes, travel restrictions, geopolitical tensions, financial strain, and separation from family. These pressures can increase anxiety, isolation, and concern about the future, yet many students do not use campus mental health resources because of stigma, language barriers, and limited culturally responsive support. This project brings together artmaking and interviews to explore how international students manage stress, make sense of uncertainty, and support their well-being during challenging times. Participants will take part in creative activities, such as making visual collages and creating personal stories through art. They will then discuss these pieces in interviews to reflect on uncertainty, belonging, identity, and well-being. These activities will help students express emotions and experiences that often feel difficult to put into words. By bringing together arts and storytelling, the project aims to create a supportive space for reflection, connection, and healing."
Congrats, Tania! This accomplishment is well-deserved!
