COMM UMD attends PRSSA Conference

COMM Student shines at PRSSA ICON 2024 Conference

Alex Spencer, COMM undergraduate student and Secretary of UMD Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), attended the PRSSA ICON 2024 Conference. 

PRSSA ICON was held on October 15-17, 2024, in Anaheim, California. This annual Conference provides PR, communications, and marketing professionals and students with networking and professional development opportunities.

Spencer describes the conference as "incredible-- no other way to put it. Getting to meet people from so many different chapters was awesome, as was seeing the individual culture and identity of each one. If there was one common denominator though, it was that everyone here was a hard worker and a kind soul."

Spencer also received career advice and left feeling "much more confident" about his career path. He states, "I was inundated 24/7 with great advice, be it from the all-star cast of keynote speakers to attending Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) professionals."

Spencer specifically highlights the Q&A session as a way to pick the brains of PR's best and brightest while getting his name out there. He also praises the encouraging atmosphere of ICON 2024 for helping students feel comfortable and welcome.
