Associate Professor Sahar Khamis Wins Three Major Awards

Celebrating Dr. Khamis' incredible achievements!

Associate Professor Sahar Khamis received the 2026 Outstanding Woman in Journalism and Mass Communication Award from the Commission on the Status of Women at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). 

This award honors a woman or non-binary scholar, who has supported women through excellence in scholarship that explores gender in mass communication, mentorship, and high standards for collaboration. The committee noted that Dr. Khamis' "contributions, leadership, and commitment to advancing women in journalism and mass communication [were] deeply appreciated and deserving of this recognition."

Dr. Khamis also earned two 2026 Outstanding Article Awards from the Intercultural Communication Division and the Ethnicity and Race in Communication Division of the International Communication Association (ICA).
