Conference: Eradicating Anti-Black Racism in the DMV

Hosted by the University of Maryland, a national leader in anti-Black racism scholarship and home to the first known academic minor dedicated to the subject, the conference will spotlight cross-disciplinary research and action. Grounded in five core fields—Behavioral and Social Sciences, Education, Public Health, Public Policy, and Arts and Humanities—this convening will highlight cutting-edge scholarship and policy ideas aimed at dismantling structural inequities.

Panel discussions and sessions will explore topics including policy and systemic change and the role higher education plays in the eradication of anti-black racism in society. With a strong emphasis on regional relevance, the event will elevate the experiences and insights of communities across Prince George’s County and the broader DMV area.

Professor of English and Comparative Literature John Drabinski will moderate a roundtable panel, featuring Assistant Professor of Communication Andrew Parayil Boge at 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 17.
