Soyoung Bae

Soyoung Bae is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Communication at the University of Maryland. Drawing on an interdisciplinary background in psychology, digital design, and communication, she has taught over 10 courses spanning theory, research methods, oral communication, and applied topics including digital media campaign, influence, and persuasion. Her teaching bridges communication theory and real-world practice, preparing students to design and evaluate strategic messages across various contexts.

Beyond the classroom, she has been an active contributor to departmental governance, serving on multiple faculty and administrative committees including the Salary Advisory Committee, Appointment Evaluation and Promotion Committee, Undergraduate Studies Committee, and Colloquium Committee, among others.
