Lauren Edelstein teaches courses about conflict and negotiations. Her goal in teaching is to provide students with skills that they can take out into the world with them after graduation.  She completed an interdisciplinary masters degree in Conflict Resolution at Georgetown University, and a PhD in Health Services Research at the University of Maryland. Dr. Edelstein’s research interests center on the way leadership, teamwork, and psychological safety within the healthcare workforce impact patient safety, care quality, and worker well-being. Outside of her academic pursuits, Dr. Edelstein serves as a consultant to support systems improvements for healthcare workers within the Veterans Health Administration.  Previously, Dr. Edelstein has worked at a community hospital, managing conflicts between patients, families, and clinicians. Dr. Edelstein is a trained mediator and has mediated hospital based conflicts, fortune 500 labor- management disputes, and disputes in court. In addition, she has experience serving as a leadership development coach to entrepreneurs around the world whose organizations have a social impact mission.
