Victoria McDermott is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in the Department of Communication. She received her B.A. in Public Relations with a Minor in Marketing from Coastal Carolina University. Victoria earned her M.A. in Professional Communication at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Victoria’s research interests center on gender communication with the military and STEM, as well as online pedagogy in higher education and the role of social media in communicating identity. Recently published research includes her edited volume Supporting the Military-Affiliated Learner: Communication Approaches to Military Pedagogy and Education, a chapter in the edited volume Theorizing Criminality and Policing in the Digital Media Age, and a chapter in the edited volume Critical Perspectives on Mental Health in Higher Education: A Guide for Faculty, Administrators, and Graduate Students. Victoria currently teaches COMM 107 for the University of Maryland.
